How to Choose the Material for Filter Bags

Bag Filter Filter Bag

Polyester Fiber (PE): Polyester fiber exhibits excellent performance at normal temperatures, making it a primary filter material in bag filters. It can withstand an operating temperature of 130℃ under dry conditions. Continuous operation above 130℃ may cause hardening, discoloration, brittleness, and a reduction in strength. The precision range is from 1 to 300 microns.

Polypropylene Fiber (PP): Polypropylene has good abrasion resistance and high elasticity recovery rate, making it an excellent thermoplastic fiber. Polypropylene felt is commonly used in low-temperature pulse filter bags in smelting plants and pulse filter bags in chemical plants. The precision range for polypropylene is from 0.1 to 500 microns, and it can withstand temperatures up to 94℃.

Nylon Monofilament (NMO): Nylon monofilament, also known as nylon screen or nylon mesh, is made from PA6 monofilament woven in a plain weave, dyed (if needed), and heat-set. It is a chemically synthesized fiber belonging to the polyamide family. Nylon mesh has high strength, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, water resistance, and elasticity. Due to its uniform filament diameter and smooth surface, it also has good ink permeability. However, nylon mesh has a high elongation, which causes tension to decrease over time after stretching, leading to a relaxed screen printing plate and reduced precision. Therefore, it is not suitable for filtration applications requiring high dimensional accuracy.

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene): PTFE is a structurally symmetrical neutral polymer compound. Its structure gives it excellent thermal stability, chemical stability, insulation, lubricity, and water resistance. PTFE can withstand high temperatures and can be used continuously at 260℃, with short-term temperatures reaching up to 280℃. It has good chemical stability and corrosion resistance, excellent self-lubrication with a low friction coefficient, and minimal filtration wear. The surface tension of PTFE membranes is very low, providing good non-stick and hydrophobic properties.
