How to Maintain and Service a Bag Filter

(Core Objective: Extend Bag Filter Lifespan and Reduce Failure Rate)

Routine maintenance should focus on filter bag replacement, seal inspection, and equipment cleaning. The detailed requirements are as follows:

Bag Filter

1. Filter Bag Maintenance

  • Replacement Frequency:
Replace the filter bag based on pressure difference (>0.15 MPa) or filtrate quality. Do not exceed the service life limit.

  • Filter Bag Cleaning:
Only reusable filter bags (e.g., nylon or PP filter bags) are suitable for cleaning. Soak the bag in clean water or a neutral detergent for 30 minutes, then rinse gently (avoid rubbing to prevent pore deformation). Dry completely and inspect for damage before reuse.
For filter bags used in filtering viscous or heat-sensitive materials (such as resins), do not attempt cleaning—discard them directly.

  • Used Filter Bag Disposal:
Dispose of waste filter bags according to the characteristics of the filtered material.

2. Regular Equipment Maintenance

  • Sealing Rings:
Replace every 3–6 months, or immediately if aging or deformation is observed, to prevent leakage.

  • Support Mesh / Filter Basket:
Inspect once per month. If deformation or corrosion (e.g., rust on stainless steel mesh) is detected, repair or replace it as necessary.

  • Instrument Calibration:
Calibrate the pressure gauge and flowmeter once a year.
Verify the safety valve every six months to ensure measurement accuracy and safety performance.

  • Pipeline Maintenance:
Flush the pipelines quarterly to remove internal scaling or residual impurities and prevent clogging.

3. Long-Term Shutdown Maintenance

  • After draining all materials, flush the filter housing and pipelines with clean water or a compatible solvent to ensure no residue remains.

  • Remove the filter bag, dry it thoroughly, and store it separately.
For metal filter housings, apply anti-rust oil or seal the opening with plastic film to prevent moisture and dust ingress.

  • Inspect the equipment exterior monthly to ensure it remains dry and corrosion-free.
