How to Start a Bag Filter System

Startup Procedure (Key Point: Increase Pressure Slowly to Avoid Filter Bag Damage)
Follow the sequence: Air Venting → Slowly Open Inlet Valve → Stabilize Pressure → Open Outlet Valve.
This prevents sudden pressure surges that could damage the filter bag or cause a “water hammer” effect.

Filter Bag
  1. Air Venting / Pressure Relief
Open the air vent valve located on the top of the housing to release any trapped air inside the filter vessel.

  2. Slow Liquid Inlet

Slowly open the inlet valve (no more than one-third open).
Observe the pressure gauge: the initial pressure should be ≤ 0.05 MPa.
Allow the liquid to fill the filter housing gradually.
Once continuous liquid (without air bubbles) flows out from the air vent, close the vent valve.

  3. Pressure Stabilization
Continue to slowly open the inlet valve until it is fully open.
Monitor the pressure gauge and ensure the system pressure stabilizes at the initial filtration pressure.

  4. Open Outlet Valve
    Slowly open the outlet valve.
Adjust the valve opening to achieve the desired process flow rate — avoid excessive flow that could overload the filter bag.

  5. Record Initial Parameters
Record the startup parameters including inlet/outlet pressure differential, flow rate, and temperature.
These readings will serve as a reference for ongoing operational monitoring.
